Well, I know I do not update this thing very often, but I really have nothing better to do, so I'm going to recap as much as possible that's happened to me in the past month or so, aight?
12/15/04 - Last day of college, woo-ha! I had to present two projects that day, but once I was finished, home sweet home! Well, there was partying to be had at first, of course. I'd say it was underwhelming. Sure, I had fun, but I got stupidly drunk and fell asleep too early and didn't get to say goodbye to many friends. Meh, story of my life. I also got my first alcohol violation for having an open container (a jug of wine) and being underage. It was only a warning, but still, it was my last day, ****ers...
12/16/04-12/17/04 - Get home, yay, sleep and relax a ton.
12/18/04 - Go to my Granddad's funeral. Pretty sad, but he was 86 years old and was sick for a long time. He made it much longer than expected. I still feel sad for my mom though. One of the most nervous moments in my life came when I had to play piano during his service, especially since I learned the song a day before. I'm sure he appreciated it though, wherever he is. R.I.P
12/21/04 - The Spinto Band (my band, if ya didn't know) plays its 3rd or 4th show at The Knitting Factory in NYC. This time though, the show sells out, something we were very proud of (okay, so capacity is only 100 or so, but it's NYC for a Wilmington, DE band). Sadly, we actually had to turn away friends who made the effort to come out and see us. It all went pretty well.
12/23/04 - The Spinto Band plays at The Fire in Philadelphia. We play pretty poorly, but meet "Black Eddie" a regular at the bar. He tells us the horror stories of his life, while also offering his daughter to perform sexual service on all of us. Definitely the most memorable man of the night.
12/24/04 - Do some more last minute shopping. Then have a nice Christmas Eve dinner with the fam (mom's side)
12/25/04 - Christmas of course! Get the presents I asked for, then go to see The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. It was probably my least favorite Wes Anderson movie (Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore), but Bill Murray is a genius and I liked it anyway. Later I went to my dad's house for some more festivities. My other grandad gave me some good spiced eggnog, not much else noteworthy happens
12/27/04 - Another Spinto Band show at The Fire. It went better, eh? Maybe this was the day we met Black Eddie? Eh, it was one of those days, *shrug*
12/31/04 - New Year's Eve, woah! The Spinto Band plays at a friend's house in West Chester, PA. We whip out some of the cover songs we had practiced (Mister Blue Sky - ELO, Hello Goodbye - Beatles, Cut Your Hair - Pavement, A Zombies song, and some others...) Show goes well, but the party isn't great, I barely knew that it turned to 2005...It was also awkward because my brother's Ex-girlfriend (who I like) was staying at our house. It was the first time they'd seen each other since they broke up over the phone, and he started dating somebody that she hated at college. Not so good. Anyway, I think we made some new fans that night, so it was fun.
1/01/05 - My granddad takes us to this fancy club in Wilmington, DE and there is some decent food. I have a mimosa (OJ + champagne), yum...What else...oh yeah Twilight Zone marathon! I watched a ton of that and saw some new one's I hadn't seen before. Great show.
1/03/05 - The Spinto Band plays the Knitting Factory again, but this time in the MAIN SPACE (OMG!!!!!) This was a big accomplishment for us, plus we were headlining, word. Pretty many people came from my college, and it's overall a pretty good night for us and The Teeth, a Philly band we invited who is awesome. At the end of the night, they give us a nice paycheck of $310, wayyyy more than expected.
1/07/05 - The Spinto Band plays the Fire (AGAIN) This time it's a nice and early show, and we're outta there by 9 PM or so. No Black Eddie this time which I must say was dissapointing. Nothing extremely noteworthy here.
1/08/05 - THE GO FOR PRO VIDEOGAME TOURNAMENT HAPPENS TODAY! Yes, the video game tournament that my friends and I put on happened for the first time in 3 years and it was a smashing success. All systems were NES, SNES and N64. Ten people entered and only one came out on top (not me! :( Anyway, we played many games including Marble Madness, Super Mario Bros. Battle, Kirby's Avalanche, Tetris Attack, Street Fighter 2, Track and Field, Mario Kart 64, California Games, Caveman Games, Goldeneye, and some others...can't remember. Anyway, we ate lots of pizza ( I had Hawaiin for the first time, yes!) and drank a little. Overall a very fun night and I'm already looking forward to Go For Pro 2006.
1/09/05-Present - Not much happening here. Our singer and guitarist went back to college, so we haven't been practicing like we had been for the last couple of weeks. Just been hanging out and working out at the local YMCA for the most part. We have shows coming up in Penn State and Boston which should keep me busy for the weekend, and my only hope is that we get back in time to watch the second half of the Eagles game.
That's it. It was a pretty good month.
