Hello all
I wanted to tell everyone that I had an amazing time in Las Vegas from January 2nd to January 6th. Legal drinking/gambling age is 19 here in Ontario...so being 19, I wasnt very happy about the legal age for both being 21 in Nevada.
Anyways, I had a great time with the family checking out all the hotels, casinos and just the entire strip. We had lots of good meals, and saw some INCREDIBLE shows. David Copperfield was insane...I still cant really explain to you what I saw with my own two eyes. He sets up this big sheet that covered some space on stage.....you can see behind, to the side, and the back. He pulls the sheet away and there's this big convertible just sitting on a stand. He revvs it up and I seriously couldnt believe my own eyes. That was only one of many "tricks".
This Cirque Du Solei show entitled "O" was absolutely incredible. Imagine a stage that consisted of a GIANT swimming pool with a stage that retracts both horizontally in panels and vertically. The stage can be there one minute, and then moved to the bottom of the pool to allow the performers to do insane stunts in above, in, and around the water. Someone was balancing only on the top of their head, upsdie down, on a trapeze a good 30 feet above ground. No water to break her fall. Artistically, it was also incredible. A good 100 minutes of awe-inspiring acts and subtle comedy. Some really interesting stuff.
I did have a few drinks, as I was never asked for ID. I couldnt gamble, obviously, but I had my dad put $10 on black (roulette). And let it ride if it won...and let THAT ride if it won. Black came up 6 straight times, and that gave me $80 and my dad a good $200.
to make things better, after our 4 hour flight home, we picked up our new Golden Retriever puppy. for those who didnt read my thread 5 weeks ago, our 4 year old Golden Retriever Sandy passed away to cancer. We've been absolutely crushed, but the new puppy 'Abby' has brought a good deal of joy to the household.
I'll be sure to go back to Vegas for a handful of days with some buddies when we're over 21 and have the time and money. It really is an incredible, unique place...and I recommend everyone to try to make it over there at some point in the life.
I captured a bunch of very cool pictures of Vegas, and I'll post some if you'd like.
