From the PSP's CES presentation: "PSP will elevate portable entertainment out of the handheld gaming ghetto and Sony is the only company that can do it. Dare I say, the baton has been passed." -Kaz Hirai, CEO of SCEA

what a cocky ass... i like those "ghetto" games... i like advanced graphics too, but to say ghetto? what a disprespectful thing to say.

Anyone who owns a Nintendo handheld should be offended as that comment suggests we users play in the gaming ghetto.

I thought I felt a little poor everytime I played a handheld. Maybe I should become a rich snobby bastard and play the PSP.

Considering Nintendo's handhelds have always been quite far behind the home consoles technology-wise...

And the SNES-esque system only had 2 face buttons...

and their N64-esque system doesn't have an analog stick... And is still behind the times in terms of technology...

Sure you can still enjoy playing those games... Some people enjoy living in the ghetto, it earns them street cred... :sneaky:

But I'm with joeiss on this one, Sony can suck it down...

The funny thing is he thinks the way out of the handheld gaming ghetto is convergence and multi-functionality.

Oh, don't look at the PSX. Nothing significant to see there. No lessons to be learned. Really!

But in any case, you would expect Sony to talk big. That's what they and Microsoft do. Sometimes the facts justify the bravado. Sometimes not. Personally, I think it's a bit early to declare that the baton has been passed with PSP sales sagging behind the DS, but what do I know?

I really dont see the DS as being "Behind the times"

I mean, what else other handheld out there right at the moment besides the PSP can do anything near what the DS can do, even graphics wise? Im still impressed every time I boot up Mario 64 for DS, because its a little surreal to be playing N64 quailty games on such a tiny handheld. At least for me.

It's called PR for Gods sake. It creates positive and negative publicity, both of which will be good for the system in the long run.

What other football games will there be out there now besides Madden? I know I'll be very impressed with it, the graphics, the setup, the franchise mode. It'll rock because there will be nothing to compare it to...

It'll be cool if he ends up eating his words, however it's pretty funny of him to say that.

That's an example of a typically arrogant person. Let's wait and see if what he says is true :D

I agree...Sony is an arrogant company. They have that confident swagger that peeves some people off. But they're also smart.

Let us be different and not hate Sony.

You will only be the king of marketing if your marketing can convince us that you are the king of marketing.

Does the thought of snatching a proverbial pebble arouse you? Arouse you in a way a female could never? Do you like to thrust randomly into the great beyond?
