If there are any two things I like doing the most, its listening to music, and driving. They also go hand in hand. So for those of you who drive, what are your favorite beats to have playing while you drive?

Here's my mix:

"Sad But True" and "Master of Puppets" by Metallica
"Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd
"Rear View Mirror" by Pearl Jam
"Shakin'" by Eddie Money
"Smoke On The Water" by Deep Purple
"House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals
"Sometimes A Fantasy" by Billy Joel
"I Wear My Sunglasses At Night" by Corey Hart
"Everybody Wants To Rule The World" by Tears For Fears
"Road Trippin" by Red Hot Chili Peppers
"Bigmouth Strikes Again" by The Smiths
"Photograph" by Def Leppard
"Machinehead" by Bush
"Headstrong" by Trapt
"Plowed" by Sponge

I also like to listen to the classical music station when I'm driving. Especially when I'm driving at night. Don't ask why. I just do.

Well, in the morning when I need to wake up, I like anything by The Offspring or AC/DC or The Misfits or Slayer.

In the afternoon, I'm pretty much wide awake and ready for anything, ranging from Tool to Fantomas to Pink Floyd to Faith No More.

At night, I like to listen to Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Queensryche, and other more spaced out bands.

Rush is a favorite too.

but mostly classic rock...especially partial to guitar solos

Nothing like bobbing your head to some good reggae while cruisin'.

On long drives I like to listen to stuff that I can sing along to, like:
Matchbox 20
Counting Crows
Supertones
12 Stones
Chevelle
Greenwheel
Blindside
AFI

Just driving around town, driving short distances, etc I like to listen to pretty much anything in my (or jeepnut's collection) which includes metal, rock, classic rock, and some alternative.

Led Zeppelin seems to be the band I listen to the most when I'm driving. It's usually more heavy stuff, so I only listen to the later albums of the Beatles and some songs of The Who as well. I guess I do listen to some classic rock music that's not as heavy, in the car, such as ELO, Jethro Tull, Pink Floyd, The Doors, but not as much as Led Zeppelin. If there is one song that's GREAT for the car, it's Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum.

It really depends on my mood and/or what CDs I've obtained recently. When driving during the day I'm more likely to put on something more mellow like some indie pop or indie rock, something in that vein. When I'm going for a night drive I prefer something a bit more fun like most any hip-hop CD from my collection.

I don't really have a favourite music for riding in a car but my favourite music for science class is the Beatles

Right now I'm listening to the radio station that's playing Christmas music the whole month. Once the holiday passes, it'll go back to lite rock, ad I'll also listen to the smooth jazz, classical, and oldie stations.

When I drive I listen to metal (just like when I'm not driving). Anything that has a hard and fast beat is good for me when I drive... it makes me drive faster, because I'm driving to the rhythm. Now, is that a bad thing? Maybe. But meh.

To be more specific, I listen to mainly Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden, and KMFDM while driving.

One of the stations I listen to here is doing the same thing. It sucks.

I like the idea of there being a station I can always find that is playing Christmas music. But I would be really annoyed if it was a station that I normally listen to on a regular basis because it cuts down on my selection.

That's my whole point. The only difference is that I don't care much for Christmas music anymore.

You know, this is weird. I just read that studies say that classical or somewhat soothing music makes a driver more aggressive. I actually haven't experienced that. Anyway I'm usually a calm driver no matter what's playing, believe it or not. I might get a bit carried away if I'm in a hurry though.

I'll also add these to my mix:

"Wait and Bleed" by Slipknot
"Push It" by Static X
"Smack My B*tch Up" by Prodigy

I was listening to the Dillinger Escape Plan yesterday......and holy ****. I just wanted to start cutting people off and headbanging, it was quite the crazy feeling. Metal makes me step on it sometimes.
