Sorry guys... I know, I know. Insert fanboy with teh [CAPS] on slam here...

I'm just a total freaking Earthbound addict. I never got into it until a few years ago when I found the prototype ROM of Earthbound Zero which was never released in the U.S. It was so good I decided to buy the SNES game.

After the N64 game was cancelled I had lost all hope. But now, it is restored. I can breath again... :D

Hamamura: I see. For something that interesting, I don’t think Nintendo will be lacking.

Miyamoto: Yeah, because of our cooperation with Square-Enix. [Smiles] I think there’ll be a hint hidden in Animal Crossing.

ooh, I wonder what that hint is :D

And Nintendo's stance on when they will go Online is concerning me more by the day. Every day the DS isn't online, it hurts developers because I'm pretty sure the PSP will be online ready out of the box and Sony will hype it to hell and back and Nintendo can't give a rebuttal to it.

But the news of Mother 3 still in development is great news.

On the subject of Square Enix, it's kind of funny how Nintendo is choosing to work with them for their online setup. SE wouldn't even be the big online gaming figure that it is today without FFXI, and if I recall the Nintendo president spoke very unkindly about the game when it first launched. In fact, they actually used FFXI's poor starting sales and server problems to justify their decision to stay offline. Now FFXI is one of the best selling and most popular MMORPGs of all time, and Nintendo is working with SE to setup some online features. :sneaky:

Just kind of funny.

"Miyamoto: Right, right. [Smiles] When we made Super Mario back then, people would react by saying, “Ah!” When we make Mario nowadays, people only say, “Oh.” [Smiles painfully]"
Aaawwww, poor old man. :p

Anyway, nice interview.
But I hate it how he says this: "The management of the company has lately had talks with all sorts of other companies about whether we should handle the Internet. However, that will probably bear fruit after three or four years."

OMG 3 or 4 years?!?!!?! That's what you get for not making the GCN online!

What the hell are you suppose to do online in Animal Crossing? Compare towns?

Maybe they have some sort of....Mega town...where people just collectively go, and can fish, and sell things, and buy things and trade things.

Mayhaps.

Trade fruits and gifts and leave little notes for eachother in the mailboxes. And corner another player and pretend to be ravaging them to no end.

Yeah, the possibilities would really have no end. You could leave messages for each other through the email form. You could sell stuff that you make. I could see Animal Crossing being a very successful MMORPG if it was expanded.
