I get to open my first window in my advent calendar today. Yay for one piece of chocolate per day!

Does anyone else count down the days to Christmas in some way?

That's the same day as my room mate and 5 days after mine.

I count down to Christmas every year....I think its because all my friends are girls....and they like to count things down.

I've been counting down Christmas since about August.

Yeah, I count down for christmas. There's a thread in a forum I post at with an "official" countdown. Funny how people count down for Christmas, not the birth of Christ.

Although you're halfway there with an advent calender.

The only reason I like Advent calendars is because each day contains a little chocolate along with the standard old proverb.

I cannot believe they now stopped selling Advent calendars at some places, and now have the countdown going to New Years instead of Christmas! It is stupid!

I countdown by observing the Advent Wreath every week at Mass.

I have an advent wreath too. I pray with it everyday.

Funny how X-mas has almost nothing to do with the Christ anymore. People just don't care anymore.

But Christmas isn't biblical anyway. Jesus was born earlier, not in the winter. :p

i don't particualrly like christmas...it depresses me because everybody ( and by everybody i mean EVERYBODY i know) gets presents while for me it's just another regular day at home played PC games and stuff...

life sucks!....mostly.

girls are great, and I love hanging out with my female friends. but without "guys nights" (poker, PS2, beer, football) I think I would go nuts with just girls. nothing against girls, I just think I would.

I hear ya stu.

Anyway, I always countdown. KG knows.

It's just in my head though. No bull**** advent things. I could never handle those. I always ate the chocolates on the first day.

I love christmas. Even though it represents everything that's wrong with our society, I still like decorating a christmas tree and visiting my relatives.....but mostly the snowboarding.

no, we do "celebrate it" if you can call it that, we get a tree and decorate and everything...except there are no presents...

It is a shame how overcommercialized the holiday has become. I mean, its pretty sad when you start seeing Christmas stuff before halloween is even over. (wal-mart) But I absolutely love the Month of December, the season, the holiday, the spirit, and, now, the faith.

Thats seems redundant to me.

Like hiding easter eggs, and not looking for them.

Or dressing up for halloween and sitting at home.

Or buying fireworks for New Years and not lighting them.

That seems like incorrect usage of the word 'redundant' to me.

Redundancy would be like...opening an a Christmas present, then wrapping it back up, then unwrapping it again, then doing this 17 more times in a row.

Oops....i was talking to my sister on MSN, and i switched 2 words around...I meant to say "pointless" on here, and "redundant" to her.

My bad. :-o

December 1st was happy for me as well. It marks the point at which I now have enough work experience to be eligible for the FBI.

I look at redundancy as more like...calling a british person grumpy, for example

I mean you've said british...anymore than that is just beating a dead horse

yes...well...that my family for you...it wasn't always like this, it just happened to be like this the past 4 years or so

they claim i'm too old...even though they expect presents themselves
