OMFG!

This thing kicks ass!

Okay, so I know I kept saying I wasn't getting it on the launch date, and I sure as hell didn't preorder the thing, but I woke up at 12:00 in the afternoon today, looked at my work scheduale, and said "damn, I work a lot this week and probably won't have much shopping time."

With that said, I hitched up, borrowed my mom's credit card, and went to Circuit City. To my dismay, they were sold out. I almost cried, but I headed over to Target, and got one of the last 3 DS's that they had! I also grabbed Super Mario 64 DS, and I got home.

I now have a DS sitting right in front of me, stylus and all, and I just got my first Star in Super Mario 64. If there are three things I can say: One is holy ****, two is get this thing now, and three is **** the GBA in the ass four ways. THIS THING IS 10000000000000000000000000 TIMES BETTER THEN THE GAMEBOY, AND IT CAN PLAY GAMEBOY GAMES. The backlight is beautiful, they stylus is sexy, everything is absolutely amazing.

I haven't dipped into the Metroid demo yet, but I did try Advance Wars 2 on my DS. It's all excellent. So is Super Mario.

I'll be back later, with more news, reviews and impressions.

*runs to DS.

It is tempting to buy one, but no. I will when Animal Crossing comes out, and that's final.

The Gameboy Advance SP is good enough for me right now anyways. I'm getting good playing time out of Fire Emblem.

I planned on importing one from the States, but as I've been griming lately: I don't have any money nor time. :p

I have to get my life back in line again before I can purchase new games.

I got up at 7:00 and was standing in front of Target with some other hardcore gamers five minutes before the doors opened. Then when they opened, the parents and lame kids embarrassed themselves by either running or speed-walking to the video game department. I kept my dignity and walked the entire way. When I arrived, the cashiers had begun ringing up the purchases. They said there were 70 units. There was only about 20 people at this time so I got mine without any struggle or dismay. I've only entered the castle of Super Mario so I can't give much impressions yet. So far, it seems close to N64 graphics. I wouldn't say it was as good as N64 graphics though. I don't know, I need to play more before I can confirm that. I'm happy though. I just need to wait for my friends to get their's. And wait for someone to develop meeting hubs on the internet so I can PictoChat with them via my wireless router base at home.

I gotta say, Mario 64 DS is beautiful. Fire, Water, ripples in the pictures......it's all there, in the palm of your hand. It's amazing just holding the thing in your hand, I mean, I seriously want to play Ocarina Of Time and Banjo Kazoie and Rayman 2 on the thing just because I can do it in the palm of my hand. I'm so happy I didn't buy an SP and I just waited for this sucker.

If you're a Gameboy fan, you have to get this. If you don't, you're cheating yourself.

I'd make sure you're not just remembering the N64 graphics as better than they really are. GameSpot said that at least the character models looked better in SM64DS (O_o) and the screenshots I've seen looked about the same.

Anyway...

The most I've played of the DS was a couple of minutes with MP:H. It was neat.

Not to mention the game runs at 60FPS instead of 30. Effectively displaying twice the polys.

From all the screenshots i've seen, N64 graphics look SLIGHTLY better then DS. but then again thats cuz im comparing it to N64 late in its life and DS early, im sure ds will get better.

And why dont you just put the shugs and walks away BS in your sig? right now thats rivaling the camfu bot as the most lame annoying thing at GT. lol. :p

It wouldn't be as "cool" in my signature. Instead of being an internet action I perform after every post, it would be my signature. Also, I would not be able to customize for individual posts, like I sometimes do.

If you don't like, don't read it.

Or something like that.

I got mine, but I only have the demo for Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt right now though. I only liked just one of its control schemes. Even that one took a little getting used to though. Sometimes I forgot what button does what in the game.

I doubt I'll be using the Pictochat feature a whole lot, but I like how there's even a place in the NDS model to store the stylus pen . The only game that interests me right now is Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt, but that doesn't come out until next year. I'm a Metroid fan so I figured getting the NDS wouldn't hurt, even if it was just a demo.

While I'm not disappointed with the NDS, I'm thinking that perhaps I should have waited until the actual Metroid Prime Hunters: First Hunt game came out, to buy the NDS. The demo is so-so, but I now know it would have been wiser to wait until the REAL game came out. I guess I couldn't help it though, since the season finale for some show would be airing on Saturday, and I'd be going to a cat con both days during the weekend. I just figured that the release of the NDS yesterday (on Sunday), and getting one, would have probably contributed to making my weekend.

You can still chat with people and play THEIR games. NDS has single card multiplayer. :D

Damn, got mine yesterday... Having a freaking ball... this is the coolest thing i've gotten in a long freaking time. I love everything about it...my friend and I were playing pictochat for like an hour.

Its fun to draw part of a picture, they download it and add something, you download it and add something, and see what you come up with...

mario is freaking unbelievable. I love this freaking thing. GO BUY A DS NOW!!!!!!!!!

They even have the super mario sunshine music in one of the levels, that freaking OWNS!!!!!!!!!

I got up at 7:00 and was standing in front of Target with some other hardcore gamers five minutes before the doors opened.

Wow, hardcore seems to have gone downhill. Hardcore is the guys that are in line the night before, no it's 5 minutes prior? Or better yet, shop at the store enough and get the manager to know you, then there's no point in standing in line, just sneak in early via employee entrance, buy your ****, and walk out, right past the line to your car.

I'm just giving you ****, why wait all night if you don't have to?

Anyway, my DS will be waiting for me when I get home. I've considered having it sent out here, but decided against it. I can wait, the only game coming out before I get back that I really care for is Mario 64. The new Mario Bros. though, is enough to make me cream my pants.
